MAY PROJECT GARDENS
The People
We are aiming to build stronger communities. We are creating spaces where people can go and interact with each other share ideas and learn new skills. We provide workshops and courses to help provide individuals with the tools to make their communities a better place to bring up families. We also host social event such as harvest days, musical events and BBQ's.
PROJECTS
The Land
We are very much an ecological project and the one of our main focus is on responsibly and efficiently using the land to meet our basic needs. We aim to demonstrate that you can fix most, if not all, of the worlds problems in a garden. By applying Permacuture ethics and principles we aim to create examples of natural gardens which are both highly productive and highly efficient without using chemical based pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers which pollute the land and harm living organisms. The idea is to use the land to provide clean and healthy food, purify water, recycle organic waste, provide practical and functional homes, and produce natural medicines.
The Music
We would like for our message of sustainable living and ethical practices to reach as wide an audience as possible. We appreciate that getting your hands dirty in the garden is not for everyone and so we aim to spread our message through other mediums. Our project manager is an experience DJ and hip-hop teacher, through his work he uses hip-hop culture as a tool to increase social cohesion and raise awareness of social issues, while also promoting sustainable living. Music is a messenger and is good for raising awareness of social issues such as racism. We also organise musical events with the underlined theme of self sufficiency, community and ethical living.
